Why Are People Drawn to the Paranormal?

Ghost on Stairs

This question was posed to me just recently by a gentleman that seemed generally confused by it all “Why are people drawn to the paranormal?”  I know several people that are total skeptics and they too wonder why?  The answers may be unclear.

First let me state I am not a doctor or any kind or a professional in the field of the paranormal.  I am whoever someone that has dealt with the paranormal activity in our building and have tried to assist the public with their comments and questions. I have worked for the Sweetwater County Library for 20 years now and years of experiences have given me and my co-workers a certain amount of clarity on the subject.

From all the input I have received and all the questions that have been put to me here is what I feel is the answer.  We are all looking for “answers”.  We lose a loved one, we lose a friend.  Is that it?  We all want the spirit to continue in some way.  If you have experienced paranormal activity in any way, it brings the question to light. A shadow moves where a shadow should not be.  So what is it?  A voice is heard where no one is seen.  So what is it?  We are all curious beings so the search begins. Is this a spirit that has lingered?

Individual’s are in need of answer s as to what these “things” are.  By doing investigations, gathering information and evidence, we allow ourselves the chance to better understand.   The Ghost Log was started by me 20 years ago.  Some people scoffed back then, but it has become a valuable tool.  We can now go back and find what happened, the time of year, month and day.  Compiling statistics on all the reports can allow us to project an overview.  Maybe, just maybe, by doing this we can understand what propels the spirits to act out more at one time or another.

Professional’s in the field of the paranormal are now easier to contact.  Here is a list of professionals that we have had the pleasure of working with.

Jubal Larimore and Robert Parton

AAPI (American Association of Paranormal Investigators)

Ghost Girls/Guys

NUPS (Northern Utah Paranormal Society)

PI Team of Utah (Paranormal Investigations Team of Utah)

RIP (Reliance Independent Paranormal)

SPIS (Sweetwater Paranormal Investigation Society)

UROPA (Utah Researchers of Paranormal Activity)

PI Team of Utah will be hosting a presentation on September 7th at 1pm at the Sweetwater County Library.  The presentation will include information about what they do and how they do it.  This is a great opportunity for the public to bring their questions and visit first hand with the professionals.  An auction will take place shortly after to raise money for the Sweetwater County Library System Foundation.  Included will be a basket which holds four tickets for a private ghost walk here at the library.  The private Ghost Walk will be held October 25th.  Other items will also be auctioned off.

For more information please stop by or call the Sweetwater County Library.
