Sign up for Summer Teen Read beginning Saturday, June 1st at the Rock Springs Library. Kids grades 5 and up receive a free new book when they sign up. Each time they tell a Youth Services librarian about a book they have read, teens receive a treat and an entry into a prize drawing. Prizes include a tent, portable DVD player, and a skate board.

The Youth Services Department at the Rock Springs Library is hosting a Winter Reading Program for children and teens. Teens can participate by stopping by the library and telling a Youth Services librarian about each book they read during January & February. Teens will be entered into a drawing for prizes each time they share a book. Small incentive prizes will be given for these “book reports”.

Preteens and teens are invited to come join us in “Middle Earth” celebrating “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien. Youth Services librarians will provide games, a Hobbit cartoon, Guiar Hero, & Wii. Refreshments will include typical Hobbit fare and a Biblbo Baggins Birthday cake. This party starts at 3:30 p.m. on Wed. November 28th & ends at 5:00 p.m. Costumes encouraged!

Teens & preteens in grades 5 & up are invited to participate in Teen Read at the Rock Springs Library beginning October 15th (Teen Read Week) through Love of Reading week ending November 15th. Three ways to win prizes include: read a book and tell a Youth Services librarian about the book, write a Haiku poem, or donate a non-preishable food item for the local food bank. Each teen participating receives a treat and all participants are entered into a drawing for $25.00 gift certicicates.

The Hunger Games YA event at the Rock Springs Library takes place on Thursday, August 30. Pre-party at 4:00 pm will include refreshments, cake decorating, knot tying, “archery”, facepainting and prizes. The Hunger Games movie will begin at 5:30 pm. Come dressed as your favorite Panem character.
