The Youth Services Department at the RS Library will host two contests for National Library Week (April 9th – 14th) continuing through April. “How Heavy is This Book?” will challenge young patrons to guess the weight (in ounces) of a LARGE dicitonary. Youth Services librarians will also provide materials to decorate a bookmark. There will drawings from the names of participants for prize baskets containing treats, books, DVDs, and book lights.
Children are invited to read to Dallas the Dog in the Youth Services department of the Rock Springs Library. He will be listening to readers on Wednesdays from 4:15 – 5:15 p.m. for 10 minute sessions beginning March 14th – April 25th. Dallas is accompanied by his trainer Nancy Anderson.
Join the Youth Services Librarians at the Rock Springs Library for a fun filled Seussathon! In honor of Dr. Seuss’ 108th Birthday, the librarians and special guests will provide family entertainment, party games, refreshments, and more! Each child will have receive a free book after participating in the Book Walk. The festivities take place at the Rock Springs Library on Thursday, March 1st, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The Youth Services Department of the RS Library will celebrate “Love Your Library” month and Valentine’s Day with two contests for children. What would you write on a conversation heart? Stop by and decorate a paper heart with your original decoration and verse to get a chance to win “The World’s Largest Gummy Bear”. For a chance to win some sweets, take a guess at how many candies are in our Valentine display. These contests will be open to children through the month of February.
Children and teens are invited to sign up for a six week reading program at the RS Library. Patrons can pick up a reading log in the Youth Services department. This program begins January 19th continuing through March 2nd. Participants will be eligible to win prizes.
Visit a Winter Wonderland in the Youth Services department of the RS Library on Thursday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m. Youth Services librarians will entertain your family with stories, puppets, and crafts.
Pick up a coloring sheet in the Youth Services Department of the RS Library and return colored or embellished. Youth Services librarians will display entries for the month of January. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative participants!
Children’s holiday crafts will be provided on Tuesday, December 6th in the Youth Services Department from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Youth Services Librarians will provide festive activities and refreshments in celebration of the annual RS Library Holiday Open House. Chikldren 2nd grade and under will need the assistance of their adults.
Families are invited to attend the Love of Reading Week celebration at the Rock Springs Library Wednesday, November 16th at 6:30 p.m. Special guests Clifford The Big Red Dog and Dallas the READ Dog will visit with the children. Youth Services Librarians will provide entertainment, games, and a small refreshment. Each child will receive a book.
RS Library Youth Services Librarians present story times for children ages 3 – 6 on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. Children can enjoy read alouds, activities, and a craft.
