About the Role

Assists with the day-to-day operation of the Community Fine Arts Center (CFAC) and assists with art exhibits, programs and general promotion of the CFAC. The person in this position assists patrons of all ages and abilities in accessing and using CFAC resources and services.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Opens and closes the CFAC as scheduled welcoming visitors, conducting tours and providing visitor assistance.

  2. Assists with set up and cleanup of art exhibits, receptions and special events.

  3. Performs secretarial duties for the Manager of the CFAC including compiling statistics, tallying ticket sales and other secretarial tasks as assigned.

  4. Assists patrons in accessing and using CFAC resources and services.

  5. Assists the CFAC Manager with projects and tasks as directed.


OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Respects confidentiality in discussing patron, staff, volunteer and organizational matters; also maintains confidentiality of organization, project, fiscal and personnel related information in compliance with Wyoming state law.

  2. Remains informed of current system and department policies, procedures, activities and services.

  3. Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
  1. Typing and data entry.

  2. Basic knowledge of art.

  3. Clerical practices, including using a cash register and tracking inventory.

Ability to:
  1. Enter data into a computerized database, spreadsheet, document or other systems.

  2. Establish and maintain rapport with co-workers.

  3. Exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion.

  4. Understand and provide verbal and written instruction in English.

  5. Work hours mandated by the CFAC Manager.

  6. Provide excellent customer service to patrons of all ages and abilities.

  7. Learn standard procedures, current information technology, Internet and database search techniques.

  8. Learn and become familiar with the CFAC library’s print and non-print materials and collections.

Skilled in:
  1. Working with limited supervision, with aptitude for detailed work and proficiency in prioritizing tasks.

  2. Accurate numerical and alphabetical filing skills.

  3. Organizing tasks, managing time and solving problems.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
  • Supervised by the Community Fine Arts Center Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and six months of relevant experience.

Schedule Requirements: Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends.

Travel: There are no travel requirements for this position.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: The essential functions of this job require the employee to work inside in an office environment. Frequent stooping, bending, walking over uneven spaces, lifting or carrying heavy (up to 30-40 pounds) items is required.

About the Company

Library service in Sweetwater County began in the early part of the 20th century when residents in both Rock Springs and Green River worked to bring libraries to the area. Over the years, the Sweetwater County Library System has grown to include three main libraries and six rural branches and the Community Fine Arts Center. The library system provides service to the 15th largest county in land area in the United States.

The Sweetwater County Library System has six rural branch libraries in the communities of Bairoil, Farson, Granger, Reliance, Wamsutter and Superior. Service has continued in some of these communities since the 1940s.

The Sweetwater County Library System also provides Home Services for residents in outlying areas in Sweetwater County and to residents in Green River and Rock Springs who are confined to their homes due to health, age or disability.
